October 13, 2010 when the replica of a 17th century galleon that figured in trade activities between Asia, Europe, and the Americas a long time ago docked in Cebu Port Pier 1 in celebration of the Dia del Galeon Festival.
The crew of the Galleon Andulacia was welcome by Governor Gwen Garcia and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.
The Galleon is made in Spain with the use of wood materials. Galleons were used for trading between the Philippines and other countries during the Spanish occupation.
The route of the galleon covers Malta, Israel, Egypt, Oman, Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Philippines and then Shanghai, where they will stay for three months to present the galleon during an expo in China.
The purpose of Dia Del Galeon is to pass the route of the Galleons in the 17th century and we are lucky that Philippines is the one route to connect with other countries such as America and many more. They also promoting the Galeon Andulacia.
